Lagos is full of wahala, but the kind that happened last weekend in Ago Palace?
It all started quietly. The couple — let’s call them Mr. and Mrs. Adewale — had been married for about 7 years. From the outside, everything looked normal. Stable home, two kids, fine cars, school runs. The type of couple you’d greet with “God when?” on Instagram.
But Lagos will teach you never to envy what you don’t fully understand.
For a while, Mr. Adewale had been noticing strange changes. His wife, let’s call her Tayo, suddenly became overly secretive. Always holding her phone like national treasure, smiling at odd hours, going out at night with the excuse of “spa appointments” or “ladies’ meetings.” At first, he brushed it off. Maybe she just needed space. Marriage gets routine sometimes.
But one day, he found a message on her iPad. A love note — not from a man, but from a woman named Zee. The message read: “Counting down to Friday, babe. I miss you in my arms.”
Confused, disturbed, and suspicious, he decided to set a trap.
Friday evening, he told Tayo he was traveling for work — overnight trip to Abeokuta. Kissed her goodbye, packed a bag, and left. But he didn’t go far. He parked two streets away and waited. Around 9:30 pm, a black tinted car drove into the compound. A woman stepped out in heels and oversized shades. Not the kind of guest you’d expect for a “girl’s night.”
Mr. Adewale waited for about an hour before quietly making his way back home. He called a neighbor who had a spare key and entered through the back gate. No noise. No drama yet.
Then he opened the bedroom door — and walked straight into the scene.
His wife, wrapped in bedsheets. Zee, half-naked. The TV still playing soft R&B. The wine glasses were half-full. The room smelt of betrayal and expensive perfume. Silence.
No one moved. Tayo tried to speak but words failed her. Zee reached for her bag, but it was too late. Mr. Adewale just stood there, staring like his brain had disconnected from reality.
He didn’t shout. He didn’t fight. All he said was: “I knew you were cheating… I just didn’t think it would be with a woman.”
He left the house that night. Word got around the estate before morning. Lagos doesn’t waste time with juicy gist. Till now, Tayo hasn’t shown her face in the neighborhood. Zee? Disappeared. And Mr. Adewale? He’s gone quiet — lawyer reportedly involved.
It’s a reminder that Lagos marriages are not always what they seem. Sometimes, it’s not just side-chicks or sugar daddies. Sometimes, it’s the twist you never saw coming.
