Response To Peter Obi's Media Team On My Alleged Sudden Love For Yorubas and Muslims

I read Peter Obi's Special Adviser on Media's post, in which he accused me of developing a sudden love for the Muslim North and Lukumi Yorubas to please President Bola Tinubu.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu only became President of Nigeria in 2023, and I have been a lover of Islam and a promoter of the Lukumi Yoruba ethos for decades.

Please assume I am lying and Google my article, written in 2017, and titled 'The Ijebu, The Yoruba and Their Influence on The Bible and Judaism.'

The mistake many Southern Nigerians make is to assume that the Christendom that came out of Europe is the only brand of Christianity.

No. I have never believed in the Trinity, and to me, it is a blasphemous abomination. Yes, I lived in Sokoto and Kebbi growing up, but my views were independent of Islam.

My parents believed in the Trinity before they passed, but I did not. And they were aware of it. But they had sufficient largeness of heart to allow me, their firstborn, to have religious independence.

I do not believe that Yeshua (Jesus) is God. He is a Prophet of God. He is a Son of God in a way we do not fully understand. But, and this is my own belief, He is NEVER God who Sits on the Throne and Whom we worship.

I am sure he has forgotten, but when I was a student in England, a prominent Northern Emir and I used to correspond on issues of religion.

So, Mr. SA Media to Peter Obi, please note that while your boss was chasing money up and down as a typical trader, I was chasing God.

There is hardly a place mentioned in both the Bible and the Quran (outside Saudi Arabia) I have not been to.

I was propelled to go there because of the love of God. And but, for religious differences, I would have married a Muslim Fulani girl from Nguroje, Taraba State, in 2000.

Mr. Peter Obi should note that my belief is that if not for Islam and the Lukumi Omoluabi ethos, I wonder what would have happened to our morals and values as a nation. What we practice as Christianity in our neck of the woods, with painfully few exceptions, often does not come with moral improvements in the adherents.

I am a follower of Yeshua Hamasiach (Jesus Christ), who was a Jewish Rabbi.

Yeshua (Jesus) used His own Mouth to say He was never a Christian and that He was a Jew. We see this in John 4:22:

"You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews."

At the end of his life, when he was arrested, Paul also testified with his lips that he was not a Christian but a solid Jew. We see this in Acts 21:39:

"Paul answered, “I am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no ordinary city. Please let me speak to the people.”

Peter, the leader of the disciples, described himself as a Jew. We read this in Acts 10:28:

"Peter told them, “You know it is against our laws for a Jewish man to enter a Gentile home like this or to associate with you. But God has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean."

In the New Testament, the word Christian was invented by the townspeople of Antioch to refer to the followers of Yeshua (Jesus)-Acts 11:26.

The only times Paul used the word "Christian" were as a verb or adjective, not as the name of a religion.

So, my true religion is the religion that Yeshua practised. My only God is the God that Yeshua prayed to in Matthew 26:39.

But, like I said, if you force me to fill out a form, I will tick Christianity.

Modernisation without moralisation is not civilisation. Any society that does not project values will be devalued. As a nation, material wealth devoid of intellectual depth is injurious to our spiritual health.
