Leave it to God,
And he would choose the best,
Because you are special in his eyes,
Better than all the rest,
Leave it to the Lord,
And he would choose for you,
Everything so amazing and new,
So, say thanks to the Lord
With your power of prayer

Self-independence, also known as personal autonomy or independence, refers to the state of being self-sufficient and free from undue influence or control by others. It involves making decisions, taking responsibility, and being accountable for one's own life, choices, and actions.

*Key Aspects of Self-Independence:*

1. *Autonomy*: The ability to make decisions and choices without being heavily influenced by others.
2. *Self-sufficiency*: Being able to take care of oneself financially, emotionally, and physically.
3. *Responsibility*: Taking ownership of one's actions, decisions, and their consequences.
4. *Self-awareness*: Having a clear understanding of one's own strengths, weaknesses, values, and goals.
5. *Resilience*: Being able to cope with challenges, setbacks, and failures without relying on others for support.

*Benefits of Self-Independence:*

1. *Increased confidence*: Self-independence fosters a sense of self-worth and confidence.
2. *Improved decision-making*: Autonomous individuals make more informed decisions that align with their values and goals.
3. *Enhanced problem-solving*: Self-independent individuals develop better problem-solving skills and learn to navigate challenges on their own.
4. *Greater sense of fulfillment*: Pursuing one's own goals and aspirations leads to a greater sense of purpose and fulfillment.
5. *Healthier relationships*: Self-independent individuals tend to form healthier, more balanced relationships with others.

*Challenges to Self-Independence:*

1. *Fear of failure*: The fear of making mistakes or failing can hold individuals back from pursuing independence.
2. *Lack of self-awareness*: Without a clear understanding of oneself, it can be difficult to make autonomous decisions.
3. *External pressures*: Societal expectations, family pressures, or cultural norms can limit an individual's ability to assert their independence.
4. *Financial constraints*: Limited financial resources can restrict an individual's ability to pursue their goals and aspirations.
5. *Emotional dependence*: Relying heavily on others for emotional support can undermine self-independence.

*Cultivating Self-Independence:*

1. *Practice self-reflection*: Regularly examine your thoughts, feelings, and actions to gain a deeper understanding of yourself.
2. *Set boundaries*: Establish clear limits with others to protect your time, energy, and emotional well-being.
3. *Develop problem-solving skills*: Learn to navigate challenges and setbacks on your own.
4. *Pursue personal interests*: Engage in activities and hobbies that bring you joy and fulfillment.
5. *Seek out new experiences*: Challenge yourself to step outside your comfort zone and try new things.

By embracing self-independence, individuals can cultivate a stronger sense of self, make more informed decisions, and live a more authentic, fulfilling life.

My first day in the university was a day I'll keep remembering. Having passed the JAMB with flying colours, I made some preparations ranging from finding a house, going round some parts of the school and knowing my faculty and department.
The day finally came, I woke up very early, prayed and had my bath, then I prepared and went out.
Well, everything went well until I was about going home, the apartment I paid for. On getting there, I was disappointed that I felt stupid. The caretaker told me that the house was already given out to someone and my money was returned. I was stranded, angry and confused.
But I later met my friend who had also resumed that day too and then I found where to rest after all the stress I went through.
