Real Madrid came from behind to record an emphatic 4-1 victory over Las Palmas, but it could have been much more. The visitors took the lead within the opening minute, but Mbappe pegged them back from the penalty spot, before Diaz fired Madrid ahead shortly after. Mbappe then scored his second and Madrid’s third to make it 3-1 and put his side in complete control. The Frenchman had a goal ruled out for offside late in the first period, but that didn’t dampen Madrid’s spirits as they continued to dominate and create chance after chance in front of goal. Rodrygo made it four shortly after the restart, before things went from bad to worse for Las Palmas as Ramirez was shown a straight red card for a high challenge on Vazquez just after the hour mark. The opportunities kept on coming and Madrid had the ball in the back of the net on two more occasions through Bellingham and Valverde, but both were ruled out following VAR reviews, so it finished 4-1. This win moves Madrid to the top of LaLiga, ahead of their Champions League game in midweek against RB Salzburg, before returning to league action next weekend to face Real Valladolid. Meanwhile Las Palmas remain 14th and they’ll welcome Osasuna on Friday evening. |
