Mama Ngozi’s Beans

One rainy evening in Ibadan, a hungry boy named Tunde lost his ₦200 and hadn’t eaten all day. He ran into Mama Ngozi’s kiosk, shivering.

“I have no money,” he said.

She smiled and served him hot beans and dodo. “Eat first. Life no dey wait for money.”

Years later, Tunde returned, now a successful man. He handed her an envelope with ₦500,000.

“For the meal that saved me,” he said.

Mama Ngozi wept. Her kindness had come full circle.
