Football fans poked fun at Trent Alexander-Arnold as the defender began Liverpool’s clash against Manchester City woefully.

In a major game for both teams on Sunday afternoon, individual battles are sure to be crucial to the final result, and one of the most pivotal clashes is Alexander-Arnold up against Jeremy Doku.

The England star’s defensive vulnerabilities are nothing new and during the early stages of the Reds' trip to the Etihad, Alexander-Arnold learned very quickly how tough of an afternoon he was set to be in for.

Just minutes into the game, Doku got the better of Alexander-Arnold on multiple occasions, the Reds full-back was then skinned again as Doku tore at him following Mohamed Salah’s opening goal.

Fans took to social media to react to the Real Madrid’s target’s early struggles, one user said: “Doku putting Trent on that flight to Madrid”.

A second said: “Trent already got dribbled past 3 times by Doku in the first 5 minutes of the game. Send that guy to Real Madrid ASAP.” While a third added: “Doku vs Trent is one of the biggest mismatches I’ve seen. Doku beat him 3 times in a minute”.

During the opening stages, Doku had won six out of the seven ground duels he went in for completing six of his seven dribbling attempts. Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold failed to win one of his seven opening duals and was dribbled past seven times without making a tackle.
