Angel's heart was beating so fast immediately she saw Nurse Alice. What has she come here to do again, Angel wondered.
"Wow, Mr. Roberts, I didn't know your wife is now awake. I'm just coming for my afternoon shift now. Angel, how are you feeling now." Alice asked her as if she was concerned.
"Nurse, she can't actually hear you, the accident made her loose her sense of hearing." Roberts told Alice.
"Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that." Alice went to touch Angel in a bid to show her sympathy. Angel shrieked from her touch.
Alice signalled to Angel that she was about to dress her wounds.
"Nooo, I don't want you to touch me." Angel screamed in a high pitched voice.
Roberts had to plead with Alice to go and come back later so that he can calm his wife down. Nurse Alice said she perfectly understood and left. When Alice left, Roberts wrote to his wife that he understood that she was in pains but she had to allow the nurse do her job.
Angel, on a second thought decided to allow Nurse Alice to dress her wounds, since her husband was there, she would not be able to do any harm to her and he didn't want to bring much drama to her husband who was already occupied with taking care of her.
Roberts called Nurse Alice after she had settled with Angel. When Alice came, she tended to the wounds with so much care and diligence. Roberts admired the way she dressed the wounds. She didn't just portray professionalism but she expressed concern as she tended to the wounds. The doctors were actually correct when they recommended Alice for the dressing. Angel herself concurred that she was good at her work but she was not going to be deceived by her fake care.
The next day, Dr. Femi came with an ENT surgeon, Dr. Clinton. Dr. Clinton examined Angel and ran some aural tests on her to ascertain the extent of damage on her ears.
After everything, the doctor explained to Roberts that the hearing problem was caused by the infection she got from the wounds sustained on her ear during the accident. The doctor also stated that she will be placed on antibiotics treatment so that the infection can be treated. Roberts thanked the doctor and he will left.
After, Roberts explained everything to his wife, he told her that he wants to go home because of their son that he left in the care of their neighbors two days ago. Angel was happy about that because she had missed her son, she wanted to see him so badly. With that, Roberts left.
As Roberts was driving out from the hospital garage, he saw Nurse Alice, it looked like she was going home. Roberts honked his horn at her. She smiled when she noticed it was Roberts. When Roberts asked her where she was headed, she explained that she worked double shift yesterday (afternoon and night) so she was just going home that morning. Roberts offered to give her a lift since they were going to the same area.
"Why does your wife hate me so much?" Alice asked feigning sadness.
"Hate? My wife doesn't hate you, in fact, she can't even hate anyone, she is the sweetest person I know." Roberts replied.
"Hmm, you are saying this because you are her husband, haven't you noticed the way she treat others. You witnessed the way she spoke to me the day I came to your house to inject David, then again, you also witnessed the incident that happened at the hospital yesterday. There are even several others that you don't know about, it's just that I have a good heart and I don't know how to reward evil for evil." Alice spoke calmly.
"I'm so sorry about that, I know how you have been helpful to my family, I'm so sorry about how she has treated you in the past. I promise that we will make it up to you once this accident is over." Roberts responded.
"Aww... that's so sweet, thank you so much Mr Roberts." Alice said and hugged him. Roberts was shocked because he didn't expect the hug.
