Seven months had passed since the dreadful revelation that shattered their family. Each day weighed heavily on Juana and Frank as they watched Taiwo's belly grow, a constant reminder of the mistake that had altered their lives forever.
They had tried to move forward, but the shame, the guilt, and the uncertainty of the future loomed over them like a dark cloud.
Then, one fateful night, a piercing scream shattered the silence of their home.
Juana jolted awake, her heart pounding. It was Taiwo. She was in labor.
Frank rushed into the room; his face filled with fear. Taiwo clutched her belly, her face drenched in sweat, her eyes wide with pain and terror. The contractions came fast and hard. Her body trembled violently.
"We need to get her to the hospital now!" Frank shouted, lifting his daughter into his arms.
The drive to the hospital was agonizing. Taiwo groaned in pain, gripping Juana’s hand tightly. The fear in her eyes made Juana’s chest tighten. She wanted to comfort her daughter, but no words seemed enough.
Upon arrival, the doctors and nurses rushed Taiwo into the delivery room. Frank and Juana stood outside, pacing anxiously. Kehindey sat in a corner, his hands shaking as he silently prayed. The air was thick with tension. Seconds stretched into minutes, minutes into hours.
Then, finally, the door opened. A doctor stepped out with an unreadable face.
“Who are the parents to the young pregnant girl?” he asked.
Frank stepped forward; his voice shaky.
“Doctor, I’m her father. How is my daughter?”
Juana’s heart pounded as she gripped Frank’s arm.
“Doctor, please, how is my child?” she pleaded.
The doctor hesitated. His eyes flickered with something unreadable before he spoke.
“We… we are so sorry. We really tried our possible best.”
Juana’s breath hitched. Her knees felt weak. She grabbed the doctor by his shirt, her eyes wild with fear.
“What do you mean? What are you saying? How is my daughter?” she screamed.
The doctor sighed; his face heavy with sorrow.
“The babies are alive.”
There was a brief silence for a moment. Then Frank blinked.
“Babies?” His voice barely above a whisper.
“Yes, sir. Your daughter gave birth to twins. A boy and a girl.”
A rush of emotions surged through Juana, but before she could react, the doctor continued.
“But… unfortunately, she didn’t make it.”
The words hit Juana like a heavy blow. The hospital walls seemed to spin around her. A sharp pain shot through her chest, and her vision became blurry.
“No… no, no, no! It can’t be!” Juana wailed. Her legs buckled beneath her, and before anyone could catch her, she collapsed, hitting her head on the cold, tiled floor with a sickening thud.
Frank stood frozen; his face drained of all color. His breathing was ragged. His hands trembled as he tried to process the situation. He slowly sank to the ground, his mind drowning in sorrow and regret.
Kehindey’s entire body went numb. He pressed himself against the wall, his eyes darting around as if searching for a way to escape this nightmare. But there was none. It was real. Taiwo was gone.
Lesson learned. Over pampered of children can spoiled them. The sign was there but their mother keep telling herself is twins love there are showing their self. Even slap a neighbor for interfering in her children Life
