đ OIL MONEY â¨ī¸ â A NIGERIAN STORY â Šī¸ SHINA SCRIPTS đĨ đĸ #EPISODE 1ī¸âŖ đĸ đ FARIDA đ I am wondering why she requested for my presence this morning. She would usually wait till during the day, maybe afternoon before asking for one's presence. "Farida, please sit." There has always been something about Mrs. Olayeni Bankole that makes me so comfortable. She is a complete mother and most importantly, the best boss one could ask for. "How was your weekend, ma?" She adjusts her glasses on her face and smiles. "It was great. How about yours?" With a shrug of my shoulders, I speak. "Ma, it was fine." I respond. "I called you in because there is something I need to inform you of. My son, Tobi, has returned from overseas and will be resuming work here in the next three days. Arrange for a meeting with all the members of your department. He'll be in charge of Sales and marketing now." Life is good o. Just like that, he will come and head all of us at the department. This life, get influence o. "O..kay. I respond." Madam's legendary son that we have never met before is joining us here. "Yes, ma." I add and nod to signify understanding. "And Farida, since you are the head of retail marketing, I want you to personally see to it that he understands the general running of the whole of Sales and Marketing. It is the major reason I called you here." Den..den..den Problem. I hope I make a good impression. "Yes, ma." I actually feel honored to be given this responsibility. "What time do I fix the meeting for?" "Errrmmm. Let's say 9?" I nod in agreement and take my leave. Immediately I get into my office, I send a mail to all the staff under me and also send a mail to Victor, head of Lubes, to inform the staff under him. đđđđđ I quickly went to my house, changed and head to the club to join the girls dem. The girls just consist of Bukky and Tamara. "I'm almost there, no vex." I am currently breaking all traffic rules just to meet these girls. Omoh, if Road safety get me ehn, I am toast. "Oil money, since that you have been coming." Tamara's voice echoes in my car. At least, the phone is on speaker. "I'm serious. You will see me in the next five minutes, don't worry." Baby girls think I'm lying. "We hear you." The line goes dead and I focus back on my driving. Exactly five minutes after, I round up at the parking lot and turn off the ignition. Immediately alighting, I make sure to lock my car before heading to the club's entrance. After showing my ID to one of the bouncers, I am allowed access into the club. I look at our usual spot and don't see the girls there so I quickly send Bukky a message. Bar. She responds. I heave a sigh and walk there to meet them. These girls don't have chill. "Hello, babiessss." They both roll their eyes at my exaggerated greeting and as though planned, give me a fake smile. "You people should cheer up, jare. Why the long faces?" I ask. "Oil money, since 6. Look at your phone and tell us what the time is." I know it was quite late but I actually had a long day today. I had to stay back to get some work done because I did not want to take work home with me since it's the weekend. On the issue of Madam's son that was supposed to join the company this week, he didn't resume as planned. "Don't worry. Bills on me." I assure them. "When we call you oil money, it's not for nothing." I roll my eyes. Whine me more o. This nickname started because of my job. At first, it seemed like a joke but over the years, it stuck. I really don't like the nickname because of the attention it draws. Before somebody will come and think that I have money and arrange kidnappers for me. The only reason why they can call me that here is because its a noisy place and no one really gives a fuck about what we discuss since they are in their own bubble. "We already ordered. Make yours." I smile to the handsome bartender and call out my order. "Coming right up, ma'am." He gives a smile and turns to prepare my drink. "He is smoking hot. And girl, did you see the way he looked at you?" "Me ke? You guys are the beauties." I chuckle, making a hand gesture to them. "Shush.....see you trying to form humble." See these nonsense girls. "Have you seen yourself, Fari? You just like underestimating your looks sha." "Ehn. Thank you." I smile and turn when I feel a small tap on my shoulder. "Your drink, ma'am." He passes it to me and winks before turning to continue his job. "Did you just see that or my eyes are deceiving me?" These girls. Ehn, he's fine but I didn't come here to fawn over bartenders. "I didn't come here to gist sha. The week has been stressful. Let"s go unwind!" Tamara's voice is already slurry. She has had so much to drink already. "See how you're sounding. If I push you now, you fit fall." "Holier than thou. Wahala for who no dey drink o." I just smack playfully on her shoulder. đđđđđ Monday morning was not pleasant for me. First of all, I woke up with a throbbing headache and next thing, I was stooling uncontrollably for the next five minutes. My stomach felt empty but I could not digest the thought of having breakfast today. I am also running temperature. This stuff is not even funny. By the time I am done and ready for work, it is almost 9am. Shit! My lateness for work no be here today o! I just hope nothing has happened yet. I practically ran to my car with my slippers, with unbrushed hair that I shoved into a turban. It is on days like this that I'm glad I always have extra pairs of shoes in my car. "Good morning, Farida." Amah, the receptionist, smiles at me. "How far. Has he arrived?" I ask. "Yes. As a matter of fact, he asked of you." Exactly what I was trying to avoid. "And?" I ask with raised eyebrows. "He was told you were not around. He requested for your presence immediately you clock in." She says, giving a response to my enquiries. "Alright, thanks." Within, I am trembling. A whole madam confidence like me, scared because of one person. Like it's some pep talk, this thought immediately helps restore my confidence and I straighten up and take the elevator to his office. I knock and let myself in when his permission is heard. "Good morning, Mr. Bankole." I put up a light smile on my face. "Who are you?" He did not even answer my greeting. "Head of Retail marketing, Farida Lawal." "Can you give me a good reason why you came late today?" His facial expression is stern. There is zero atom of friendliness in his tone. But I'm not fazed. Any boss would not tolerate 1 hour lateness to work. He's probably not like this on a normal day. "Sir, I...." Well, I was about to apologize but my stomach chose that moment to embarrass me. "Please, excuse me." The moment I closed the door, I ran. I am aware of the curious eyes following me but that one is in their pocket. I cannot come and shit on my body. Chai. I need to go to the hospital. After I am done, I straighten my clothes and head back. "What was that all about?" He asks, eyebrows raised. "I am sorry, Sir." "I don't like you. See yourself out of my office." I'm in total awe. This man did not just. Uncle, I don't like you too. It's just a pity that I'll have to be stuck with giving him heads up on what has been happening and every other thing he needs to know. "Oh, and Miss. Lawal, send me whatever I need to be updated on as a soft copy. We don't need to meet up to talk." He says dismissively. "Thank God." I mutter under my breath. "Excuse me?" His face has a confused expression at my audacity. "Nothing." I retort back and snarl. Does he think I want to be subjected to his attitude? After leaving his office, I am heading to mine when I come in contact with Madam. "This one that you resumed late today, hope it is not one man that kept you." Urgh! This woman ehn. "Ma, you know I don't have any man keeping me. Good morning." "Good morning, my dear. Ehn, must you have a man for a man to keep you?" She winks as she asks. Kai, but I'm already used to her teasing. "Please, don't kill me. I had a terrible morning, ma. Woke up with a headache and running stomach." I inform her. "Pele, my dear. You should go to the hospital." She says, rubbing me on the back. "I'll go probably during lunch break." I say. "Have you met with Tobi?" "Yes, ma. I have." She nods her head before speaking again. "Great. Let me leave you to work." I wonder how this nice woman could birth such a man. |
