In solidarity with Guinea, Government of Sierra Leone through Ministryof Health and Sanitation has dispatched top medical personnel and aid to respond to the recent fire disaster in Guinea.
This follows Guinea’s recent tragic explosion at Conakry’s main oil terminal. Early Monday, the terminal was struck by a powerful explosion, resulting in a rising death toll of 13, with 88 individuals reported injured.

In immediate response to this catastrophic incident, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS) in Sierra Leone mobilized top-tier medical personnel, deploying two Mobile Health buses, two ambulances, and essential medical supplies to assist in Guinea’s recovery efforts

The explosion, which shook the Kaloum administrative district, not only caused fatalities and injuries but also triggered the evacuation of nearby residents as it shattered homes and raised concerns about the wider impact on the community.

While investigations into the cause of the fire at Guinea’s oil terminal are underway, the extent of damage to this crucial infrastructure remains uncertain. Guinea, highly reliant on imported refined products stored in the terminal, faces potential repercussions that could directly affect its citizens.
The swift action of firefighters helped contain the blaze by Monday afternoon, quelling the massive fires and black smoke that had initially engulfed the area. However, the aftermath prompted closures of schools, gas stations, and businesses, signifying the severe disruption caused by the tragic incident
