On Thursday, the first leg of the UEFA Europa League round of sixteen games continued, and while some teams had amazing results, others will have to wait until the second leg to show what they're made of in order to qualify for the quarterfinals.

AZ Alkmaar advanced to the Round of 16 thanks to their 6-3 aggregate victory over Galatasaray. It was a whole other ballgame on Thursday, though, when we played Tottenham of the Premier League. Just 18 minutes into the match, Spurs player Lucas Bergvall put AZ Alkmaar ahead with an own-goal that went against his team.

Spurs had no shots on goal in their Round of 16 match against AZ in the Netherlands, making them seem worse. AZ had a tough time of it. On the road, Spurs were defeated by a single goal. On Thursday, Manchester United's performance against Real Sociedad in Spain triggered their chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals.

After a disappointing first half, Visiting United took the lead in the 58th minute thanks to a goal from Man United's Zirkzee. After video review concluded that United captain Fernandes had handled the ball in the penalty area, Sociedad's Mikel Oyarzabal tied the score for the hosts from the penalty spot in the 70th minute, bringing the score to 1-1.

After United had the upper hand for more than an hour, the hosts eventually came out to celebrate a draw. To wrap up what they started in Spain, Manchester United will face Real Sociedad in the return leg.

In their last chance to secure a spot in the quarterfinals, Tottenham Hotspur will also host AZ Alkmaar of the Netherlands next week.
