Hosts Cote D’Ivoire began their group stage campaign of the 33rd edition of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations tournament in a positive note, following a commanding 2-0 over Guinea Bissau in Abidjan on

Saturday.

After kick-off had been delayed by several minutes following a spillover of activities on opening night, Les Elephants got to work and were rewarded in the fourth minute as Al Nassr midfielder Seko Fofana fired a shot home to hand the hosts the lead.

Much of the first half saw the action dip, though there was nothing to threaten the scoreline for the hosts.

Cote D’Ivoire got the assurance goal just before the half-hour mark when St Etienne striker Jean Philippe Krasso scored a beauty to hand Les Elephants the three points on the tournament’s opening match.
