For one small village wey dem call Umuoma, one fine girl wey her name be Adaora dey live. She no just fine, she get better sense, and she sabi work hard well well. But the wahala be say, for her village, people no too believe say woman fit do big things. Dem go talk say, "Woman wey too sabi, na wahala she go be for husband house."

But Adaora no send. She get one big dream—she wan learn how to fix motor. Everybody for her family shock when she talk am. Her mama tell am, "Ada, na wetin you talk so? Na man work be dat!"

Her papa just shake head. "My pikin, you be woman. Go learn tailor work or sell food for market."

But Adaora no gree. Every afternoon, she go waka go meet one old mechanic wey dem dey call Baba Kunle. She go stand for corner dey look as e dey fix motor. One day, Baba Kunle see say she dey serious, e come ask am, "Ada, you wan learn?"

She nod her head like fowl wey see corn. "Yes, Baba. I wan sabi how motor take dey work."

Baba Kunle laugh. "No be small thing you dey talk so. Your hand fit dirty, your cloth fit tear, but if you ready, I go teach you."

From that day, Adaora begin learn. She go clean tools, dey watch Baba Kunle, dey try use spanner and dey tighten bolt. The boys wey dey work for workshop dey laugh am. "See this one! Woman for mechanic shop? E no go fit!"

But Adaora no mind dem. Even when her hand begin get grease and her cloth dey full stain, she still dey come workshop every day.

One fateful day, one big man motor spoil for road near their workshop. The man dey hurry go important meeting, but Baba Kunle no dey. Na only Adaora and the boys dey workshop.

The boys fear. "We no sabi wetin do the motor!"

But Adaora don dey watch Baba Kunle tey. She wipe her hand for rag, bend down, look the motor, come touch touch some things. Then she talk, "Oga, your battery terminal don loose." She use spanner tighten am well. She start the motor—vroom! The motor roar to life!

The big man open mouth. "Na you fix am?"

Adaora nod. The man smile. "You get talent, my pikin. I go help you. You go like go big mechanic school for city?"

Adaora happy no be small. Na so she take get opportunity go city go learn more about motor. Years later, she come back to Umuoma as the first woman mechanic for the whole village. People wey laugh her before, na dem dey bring motor make she help dem fix.

From that day, nobody for Umuoma fit talk say woman no fit do wetin she put her mind to do. And Adaora name enter history as the girl wey no dey give up.
