The Nigerian movie industry consistently portrays Yoruba culture and traditions with accuracy, showcasing their intelligence and global influence across various industries. Naturally, this is expected, as the scriptwriters, directors, and producers are Yoruba themselves. Kudos to them.πŸ‘πŸ–€

However, when it comes to the Igbo, these same scriptwriters, directors, and producers would ignore the hardworking, intelligent, and industrious nature of an Igbo man. They overlook the rich culture and values of the Igbo people, instead choosing to depict him as an illiterate with money, obsessed with women, and calling himself Odogwu.

And guess what? Igbo people, especially their women seem perfectly fine with this. In fact, they celebrate it. Clearly, this is the image they want their men to embody, and unfortunately, it reflects in how they are raising their male children today.

There is a problem. Remember, movies are not just for entertainment; they are a means of shaping perception, reinforcing values, and influencing the future of a people. What happens when a generation of Igbo men grows up believing that money and lust define their identity?

It’s time to rethink the narratives we allow to thrive. An Igbo man is more than just money and women. He is a visionary, a builder, and a leader. He is a pioneer in business, technology, and global trade. He is resilient, intelligent, and deeply rooted in a culture that values hard work, family, and progress.

The question is, will Nollywood ever tell that story? Or will it continue feeding stereotypes that do more harm than good? Over to you all.
