The Voice Under My Bed
Last night, I heard a whisper from under my bed.
"I know you’re awake."
I froze, heart pounding so hard I thought it might give me away.
I wanted to believe I imagined it — until it spoke again. Closer this time.
"If you pretend to sleep, I’ll pretend to leave."
I haven’t moved since. And whatever’s down there… hasn’t either.
It’s still breathing.
