I woke up to a knock at the door.
When I looked through the peephole, I saw myself standing there. Same face. Same clothes. Same tired eyes.
He raised his hand and knocked again, slower this time.
"Let me in," he said, voice calm and steady. "You’ve had your turn."
My chest tightened. I didn’t answer.
He leaned closer to the door, his forehead pressing against it. I could hear his breathing. It sounded wrong — wet and heavy, like it wasn’t meant for lungs.
"You don’t deserve this life," he whispered. "But I do."
My phone buzzed on the table behind me. A new message from my number.
"If you don’t open the door, I will."
I didn’t move.
Then the doorknob started to turn — even though it was still locked.
From the other side, he laughed. It sounded exactly like me.
