This is the story of Juice WRLD and his climb to the top
It all kicked off in 2015 when Jarad Anthony Higgins started dropping music on SoundCloud under the name “JuicetheKidd” He was inspired by Tupac’s movie Juice and had a big love for rock and emo bands like Paramore and Fall Out Boy — He mixed rap with alternative vibes to create something totally new. Juice really hit it big in 2017 with his song “Lucid Dreams.” This song samples Sting’s “Shape of My Heart” and it took off online, amassing MILLIONS of views with its emotional lyrics about heartbreak and betrayal. Juice's music started getting popular on Spotify and SoundCloud, which caught the eye of Grade A Productions and Lil Bibby, leading to him signing with their label.
His vibe stood out in the emo rap scene because it was super relatable and full of raw emotion. In 2018, Juice dropped ‘Goodbye & Good Riddance,’ and it was loaded with hits like “All Girls Are the Same” and “Wasted.”
The album got a ton of love and really established him as one of the biggest stars in rap. Juice WRLD really hit home for a lot of people with his openness. He talked about addiction, mental health, and love in a way that resonated with fans who were dealing with similar stuff.
Fans didn’t just see him as a musician; he was like a voice for their struggles and pain. His live shows were legendary. Juice’s ability to freestyle for hours on end amazed fans and showcased his raw talent.
In an era of overly polished music, he brought an edge that felt authentic. In 2019, Juice released his second album, ‘Death Race for Love,’ and it shot straight to No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
With songs like “Robbery” and “Hear Me Calling,” he really took things to the next level, trying out new sounds and diving into deeper topics. Tragically, Juice WRLD’s life was cut short in December 2019 due to an accidental overdose.
Despite his passing, his influence continues to grow. Juice WRLD’s openness, artistry, and innovation left an indelible mark on hip-hop, emo, and beyond‼️
