The Stranger Who Wore My Face 4

I woke up to silence. Too quiet, like the world outside had been put on mute.

My room looked the same — but it felt wrong, like I wasn’t supposed to be here anymore. My throat was dry, my head heavy, and when I tried to stand, my legs shook like I hadn’t used them in days.

My phone was on the nightstand, screen glowing. One new message.

"You’re almost ready."

Ready for what?

I stared at the message, heart pounding, when I noticed something strange on my dresser. My wallet, keys, and a folded shirt — things I swore I didn’t leave there — were stacked neatly. But the shirt wasn’t mine.

It looked like something I’d wear, sure. But it wasn’t mine.

And then I saw the photo beside it.

It was me… but not me. My face, smiling too wide. Wearing that shirt. Standing in my kitchen, holding a coffee cup I didn’t own.

The timestamp said 6:13 AM.

It was 6:12.

My kitchen light flicked on.

And I heard footsteps.
