The Stranger in My Photos 18
The knock echoed through the room, slow and deliberate.
Knock. Knock.
My phone buzzed. Another message.
"It’s time."
My throat tightened. My hand shook so badly I almost dropped the phone. The live feed was still running — the hallway, the door, and him. He wasn’t just standing there anymore.
He was closer.
The camera flickered, and his head snapped sideways in an unnatural jerk, his face — or what was left of it — twitching like a glitching video. His skin rippled, shifting like something was moving underneath.
Another buzz.
"Let me in, or I’ll come in anyway."
My heart pounded in my ears. I couldn’t breathe. My hand hovered over the doorknob, but I couldn’t touch it. I couldn’t move.
The screen flickered again. The feed glitched, static distorting his shape.
Then, suddenly, he wasn’t at the door anymore.
He was in the room.
The feed cut off. My phone screen went black.
And in the darkness, I heard it.
"Found you."
