5. TurnTable's Certification System

Nigeria’s music industry now has its own official certification system, thanks to TurnTable — a music and entertainment magazine co-founded in 2020 by Ayomide Oriowo and Similoluwa Adegoke.

In 2023, they launched the TurnTable Certification System of Nigeria, designed to track streams, radio airplay, and sales. This gives Nigerian artists an official way to earn plaques and milestones — similar to Gold and Platinum certifications seen in the U.S. and UK.

It’s a huge step forward, ensuring Nigerian artists get the recognition they deserve in a rapidly growing, digital-first industry.
