According to Leadership, the children lost their lives in a stampede that occurred during a children’s carnival in Ibadan on Wednesday.


Reacting, Peter Obi said it is sad that the children lost their lives in pursuit of something as simple as Christmas gifts. Peter Obi said the ugly incident has shown that the government at all levels must introduce policies that will eradicate poverty in the country.

The former governor of Anambra state said the tragedy has revealed the harsh realities of the society .
According to Peter Obi on his official X account;


“How did we, as a people, reach a point where children, the very symbols of hope and the future, lose their lives in the pursuit of something as simple as Christmas gifts? This calamity exposes the deep inequalities, pervasive poverty, and desperation afflicting our nation”.
