1. Africa Was Divided Without Consent In 1884-1885, European powers met at the Berlin Conference to divide Africa among themselves — without a single African representative present. This arbitrary partition disregarded ethnic, cultural, and linguistic boundaries, leading to conflicts that still affect the continent today. --- 2. The Transatlantic Slave Trade Stole Millions Over 12 million Africans were forcibly taken from their homes and sold into slavery across the Americas from the 1500s to the 1800s. Entire communities were wiped out, and the continent was left destabilized — while Western economies thrived on stolen labor. --- 3. African Civilizations Were Downplayed or Erased Advanced African civilizations like Great Zimbabwe, Mali Empire, Kingdom of Kush, and Benin were often ignored or dismissed as primitive — despite their achievements in architecture, mathematics, and medicine rivaling those of Europe and Asia. --- 4. Africans Were Exhibited in Human Zoos In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Africans were kidnapped and put on display in human zoos across Europe and America — treated like animals for entertainment. Ota Benga, a Congolese man, was even exhibited in the Bronx Zoo alongside apes in 1906. --- 5. Colonizers Looted African Art and Treasures Thousands of priceless artifacts — including the Benin Bronzes, Ethiopian Tabots, and Egyptian relics — were stolen by colonizers and remain in European museums today, despite calls for repatriation. --- 6. African Resources Built Western Wealth Africa holds 30% of the world’s minerals — including gold, diamonds, oil, and coltan (used in phones and electronics). For centuries, these resources were exploited by foreign powers, while African nations were left in poverty. --- 7. Racist "Science" Was Used to Dehumanize Africans Pseudoscientific ideas like "scientific racism" claimed Africans were biologically inferior to justify slavery and colonization. Sarah Baartman, a South African woman, was taken to Europe and paraded as a "freak show" due to her body shape — later dissected after her death. --- 8. African Languages and Cultures Were Suppressed During colonization, European languages like English, French, and Portuguese were enforced while indigenous languages were banned or discouraged. Traditional beliefs were labeled "pagan" to push Christianity, erasing cultural identity. --- 9. Africa Was Portrayed as Hopeless and Helpless For decades, media and education systems painted Africa as a place of poverty, disease, and conflict — ignoring its rich history, innovations, and resilience. This portrayal justified foreign interference while hiding the role of external powers in Africa’s struggles. --- 10. Some African Leaders Who Resisted Were Assassinated Powerful African leaders who opposed Western control were targeted and killed. Examples include: Patrice Lumumba (Congo, 1961) — assassinated with CIA involvement. Thomas Sankara (Burkina Faso, 1987) — assassinated for pushing African self-reliance. Amílcar Cabral (Guinea-Bissau, 1973) — murdered for leading anti-colonial movements. 2 1 |
✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿, what are your own thoughts about this and the stories you've heard? 3 2 |
Dudeblack:all these points are valid but they are not entirely true about the African race. If only the west will allow the African culture thrive along side the western culture but they are constantly suppressing it therefore making the rich African culture looks unreal or absurd I blame we the Africans because we don't value what we have .. 3 4 |

Walebabz: All this are the result of the slave masters, turning our faces against our culture and languages just to obey and serve them under all circumstances which is affecting us today even to the extent of seeing our languages in school as the bad one but English and others as the good ones.... Africans are also at fault denying their own culture and history to be learned and also not wise enough to see the dangers the white people want to do to our culture, history and vast languages... 1 2 |
Dudeblack:I don't blame the white or slave masters for Any of these, although they contributed to it but it's duty of we the African to say to no to suppression and agitated for our own and protect and preserve it but Greed is in our DNA like the bible will say that "The foolish acquire wealth forgetting that he won't live to enjoy it" so I don't know why a leader can sell of his fellow black for just a Piece of steel ... mental slavery is indeed imbeeded in us .. leadership is the curse of Africans only very few ones we have but the greedy ones are so many... 2 1 |
Walebabz: We need a pusher, just one to aggravate the moral of Africans to overthrow thier respective government and unpleasant rule but some are still unwise to know this and who will be our revolutionary to break out mental slavery?, everyone cherishes thier life, don't expect a fight without injuries especially by the oppressing ones... 1 2 |
Emmzy200k: Your thoughts? 1 1 |
